Hey there! Wow, your situation almost mirrors mine with my V70 and it's good to know I'm not alone. Feeling the same dread here about having a serious issue with the camshaft. That sounds like it was quite a fix you had to go through. Can you recall roughly how much that set you back? And since the fix, has anything else cropped up or has your S60 been running smoothly? Cheers for sharing your experience. Any extra details would be a huge help.

Hey! Yeah, the whole ordeal with the camshaft was a major pain, won't deny. But once you get it sorted, it's smooth sailing from there. For all the work done, that included the camshaft, timing belt replacement, and a thorough engine cleaning to rid of the oil contamination, it cost me around €625. It was a fair hit on the pocket, but much better than any long-term issues down the pavement. Since then, my S60 has been running like a dream! No overheating, ticking sounds, nasty oil surprises...nothing. She's as good as new. So, while the expense might be sizeable, it's worth it in the end. Wishing you best of luck with your V70! You'll have her purring again in no time I bet. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience, it's a huge relief to hear. Of course, having a €625 hit on the pocket isn't great haha, but if it ensures my V70 gets back to ship shape and avoids more significant problems in the future, it's definitely worth it. Your S60 running smoothly post the fix gives me some reassurance. Glad your girl's doing well! It's time to bite the bullet and get my V70 checked. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for any other potential issues as well. Thank you again for your advice, really appreciate it. Cheers!

Hey there! I, too, drive a Volvo - a 2014 S60. I had something eerily similar happen last year. Just like your V70, my S60 was showing the check engine light and overheating a lot. There was even this strange ticking noise from under the hood, almost like what you're describing. Turned out, it was more serious than I had hoped. Apparently, an issue with the camshaft was causing the metal shavings to end up in the engine oil and causing all kinds of trouble. The last guy in the garage did a hefty work to fix that. He not only cleaned all traces of metal from the engine but also replaced the camshaft and timing belt, resealed the valve cover, and performed an oil change. So, the symptom you described matches a lot to mine, could be that your camshaft has gone wonky or similar. Definitely get it checked out asap, wouldn't want it to become a bigger problem. Wish you luck with it! Cheers.
