Hey, appreciate the quick response! You've eased my tension a bit; relieved to hear it’s not as serious as I thought. Just wondering though, do you remember roughly what you ended up forking out for that relay replacement? And besides the relay, did any other issue pop up with your XC60 afterwards? Thanks again!

Hey, no problem at all, glad I could help ease your worries a bit! Nah, it didn't really break the bank, the repair cost me like around 120€, and that's including the new main relay unit itself. And that was it, nothing else failed after the relay was replaced. Besides routine maintenance and stuff, of course. My XC60 has been running just fine since they sorted out that main relay problem. Hope your situation turns out just as well! Good luck with your Volvo!

Cheers for the info! 120 Euro doesn't sound too harsh for something that's worrying me so much. Looks like I will be able to sleep tonight. Fingers crossed my XC90 sorts out as well as your XC60 did, without any more surprises. Time to find a mechanic who won't give me a fright like the last one. Much appreciated your advice and the luck. Thank you once again!

Hey there! I had a similar situation with my 2011 Volvo XC60 Diesel a while back. It was indeed the main relay causing the trouble. The garage had to replace the engine control unit main relay, since it was totally defective. Thankfully, it wasn't as serious as it sounds - no further damage was done to the engine or anything like that. Following the replacement, my bird's been running smooth ever since. Just make sure your mechanic tests the relay first before settling on a replacement. Good luck!
