2016 Dacia Duster: Shaking, Check Engine Light, and Jerking Acceleration

Hey! I hope y'all can give me some advice here. I've got a 2016 Dacia Duster, Gas engine, clocking in at 66,789 KM. Lately, she's been shaking like a leaf when in idle, the check engine light's popped on, and she's started jerking on acceleration too. I suspect there could be a fault with the throttle valve. I had a dodgy experience with a mechanic last time, so I'm a bit wary now. Have any of you experienced something like this with your cars? What was the diagnosis and how did it eventually turn out at the mechanic's? Would really appreciate your insights! Cheers.

Hey there! I totally get where you're coming from. I had a similar issue with my 2013 Dacia Logan not long ago. Sphere was jerkin' on acceleration and the engine light kept making a cameo on the dash. When I took mine to the garage, it turned out to be the Accelerator Pedal Module causing all the drama. The electronics inside were defective. Yup, you heard that right! These modules have sensors to monitor the position of the pedal, and when they go on the blink, it messes up the engine control and can cause all sorts of erratic behaviour – including that idle shaking and jerking you're seeing. Let's just say it wasn't exactly a minor issue. It needed some serious fixing. Had to get the Accelerator Pedal Module replaced to get things back on track. Hope this helps you out a bit. Good luck at the garage, fingers crossed it's easier for you this go around!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. It's a bummer to hear that you had to go through all that with your Logan. So, the culprit was the Accelerator Pedal Module, huh? Interesting. I hope that's not what's wrong with my Duster, but it seems like a possibility. Can you recall how much you paid to get that fixed? And since you got it replaced, have there been any other related issues, or has it been smooth sailing? Just trying to know what I might be getting myself into. Cheers.

Hey! Sure thing. The repair wasn't exactly pocket change - fixing that darn Accelerator Pedal Module set me back by 265€. But given the trouble it was causing, it was worth every penny. As for any other related issues since then... well, happy to report it's been smooth sailing! After seeing the mechanic, the throttle valve problem was sorted and I haven't had any similar worries. Seems like it really did the trick. So my advice would be, brace your wallet and get it sorted as soon as you can. Might just save you a whole lot of headache down the line! Wishing you the best of luck with your Duster, dude!

Well, that's a relief to hear that the issue hasn't cropped up again for you. I was worried about ongoing issues even after the repair. But 265€ is serious dough, isn't it? However, I guess there's no choice but to loosen the purse strings if it's going to put an end to these irritating issues. Your insights have been super helpful—gives me a better idea of what to expect. I'll be sure to mention the Accelerator Pedal Module to the mechanic when I go. Again, thanks a lot for the advice. I'll keep my fingers crossed that my Duster gets sorted out without too much hassle. Stay safe and happy motoring! Cheers.
