2018 Toyota Estima: Persistent Fault Light and Non-Working Heated Windows Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Toyota Estima is experiencing persistent fault lights and non-working heated windows, likely related to the windshield heating system. A similar issue was resolved by repairing the heating element, which was not producing sufficient heat. The repair involved diagnostics and replacement of the faulty element, leading to a successful resolution without further issues. The suggested solution is to have the heating system checked and repaired by a mechanic, despite potential costs, to restore functionality and avoid driving inconveniences.

Hey! I appreciate the insight! Sounds like we're dealing with the same gremlin. Your experience really paints a picture of what I might be in for. Seeing as you've already treaded these chilly waters, do you recall about how much you had to shell out to get it repaired? Also, since the fix, have you hit any other frosty surprises or has it been smooth sailing? Getting a handle on this would be a real weight off my shoulders. Thanks again!

Hey there, happy to share my experience! You're right, it was the very same pesky gremlin I dealt with in my Aurion. About the cost, it chewed up a chunk of my savings, exactly 585.00 €, for the windshield heating element repair. And yes, the post-repair period has been a smooth ride, no more cold surprises as of now. Since the mechanic gave it a good once-over, the windscreen laughter - uh, I mean heater ;) - has been going just fine, no functional limitations at all. Waking up to frosty windows is just a nightmare of the past! Looking forward to hearing about your now-defrosted and warm ride! Drive safe, and remember, it might be a hefty price, but it sure is worth it in the end!

Great to hear, and thanks for letting me in on the cost upfront. I think I'm ready to deep dive into this and get it sorted. I can't wait for frosty windows to take their rightful place in my rearview mirror, literally and figuratively speaking! Thanks again for your help. Having someone who's gone through the same situation really takes a lot of the stress off my shoulders. I'll be sure to pop back in and let you know how the journey to the repair shop goes. Until then, safe travels and keep warm!

Hey, sounds a lot like the issue I had on my 2015 Toyota Aurion, similar mileage too. My windshield heating element was acting up, the fault light was on and the windows wouldn't defrost. It definitely was the heating system acting up, similar to what you're describing. Had to get the element, which wasn't producing the right amount of heat, sorted out at a local garage. It was not the funniest experience, dealing with the chilly mornings before the fix was done. This wasn't a small issue, as driving with a frosty windshield early in the mornings is no joke. Just so you know, it took the garage a good few hours to run a diagnostic and repair it, but it wasn't like an engine replacement or anything. It’s more of a nuisance-kind-of-problem, not a make-or-break kind of deal. Hope this helps, and good luck with your Estima!
