2019 Kia XCeed Engine Issues: Inconsistent Operation and Possible Coding Faults

Fault stored

Engine shuts off by itself

Check engine light on

Car won't start

Hey! I'm hoping some of you car-savvy people in here might be able to help me. I have a 2019 Kia XCeed, gasoline engine with about 79148 KM on it and I've started to run into a bit of trouble. My check engine light is constantly on, the engine has a mind of its own and shuts off unusually, and sometimes, it just flat out refuses to start. On top of that, my car has stored a fault. Considering my last not-so-great run-in with my local mechanic, I'm thinking this might have something to do with incorrect coding. Have any of you faced similar problems? What did your mechanic say? How was your experience in dealing with it? Appreciate any and all feedback. Cheers!

Hey, there! Sounds exactly like something I faced with my 2017 Kia Sorento a while back which also had a third-party chip tuning. You've got my sympathies. The same widgets on my dash were lighting up and my engine was throwing tantrums too. Just like your XCeed, my Sorento also had the knack of switching off at the most inconvenient moments, and some days wouldn't even kick into life. Took the thing to my mechanic who after a whole load of poking and prodding traced the issue to the third-party chip tuning I had on my engine. Apparently, the codes were all off. it was a complete shambles! Incorrect coding it was, just like you suspected. Ended up getting the faulty module replaced. Now, was it a serious issue? In terms of the frustration and the potential risk of getting stranded somewhere - absolutely! But in terms of the mechanical integrity of the car, not as much, fortunately. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your Kia! Stay strong and get it sorted before it gives you any more grief. Cheers!

Oi there! Sounds like we're on the same boat with these Kia troubles! My XCeed's been acting up just like yours did. So, the mechanic pointed it to some wonky chip tuning, eh? That's interesting. I remember getting some third-party tuning done myself, so your experience is definitely striking close to home. By the way, just for my budget planning, do you recall how much you had to chip out for the replacement? And fingers crossed, nothing else has gone haywire since, right? Appreciate you sharing, cheers!

Hey! Sounds like our Kias are singing the same song, doesn't it? Yep, the mechanic pinpointed the fuss to a botched third-party chip tuning. Guess we both fell into that trap, huh? As for the expenses, I shelled out 180.00 € to get the faulty tuning chip replaced. I mean, it’s not exactly cheap, but it did the trick. After sorting out the coding, I haven't had any more trouble with quirky engine behaviour or spontaneous shutdowns. Life's been smoother since, I tell you that. Keep in mind, doing it sooner rather than later could save you from some serious stress down the line. Remember, the longer it malfunctions, the more it could potentially mess up. Good luck with it. Hang in there and get it sorted. Cheers!

Hey there! It certainly seems like our Kias are in sync with this tune problem, huh? Thanks for giving me the heads-up. Your experience has shed some light on the mystery of my car's tantrums. The 180.00 € does seem a bit steep but if it means getting rid of the unexpected engine issues, then it’s worth the peace of mind. I'll be taking your advice and sorting this problem sooner rather than later to ward off any potential further damage. Once again, your insights were valuable and I greatly appreciate your help! It’s back to the mechanic for me then, wish me luck! Cheers until next time!
