2022 Seat Tarraco Air Conditioning Issues: Possible Faulty Control Valve?

Hey folks, I'm driving a 2022 Seat Tarraco, Gasoline engine with roughly 96.5k km on it. Lately, I've been dealing with some AC issues. Warm air blows out when it should be cool, there's barely any heat or cool air, and the whole A/C system doesn't seem to even turn on. I'm suspecting the air conditioning control valve could be the troublemaker due to my past experience. D'you reckon that could be it? Anyone had similar problems and if so, how did your mechanic handle it? Appreciate any insight. Cheers!

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Seat Tarraco owner is experiencing air conditioning issues, with warm air blowing instead of cool and the system not turning on. The owner suspects a faulty air conditioning control valve based on past experiences. Another person shares a similar issue with a different Seat model, which was resolved by fixing a coolant leak, suggesting that the problem might not be the control valve. The advice is to have a mechanic inspect the system for leaks and consider the control valve as a potential issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my 2019 Seat Leon not too long ago. The AC was giving trouble, inconsistent cooling and all, and it turned out to be a leakage in the AC system. The coolant had been slowly draining out which was disrupting the entire function. The mechanic had to go through the full AC system to find the leak, it was like finding a needle in a haystack. But once he found it, he simply sealed it up, refilled the coolant, and it was good to go. It wasn't too serious, just a bit complicated to find. So I reckon it could be a similar issue with your Tarraco, and not necessarily the control valve. You may want to discuss this insight with your mechanic. Hope this helps out. Good luck!

Hey, cheers for the reply! Interesting to know you faced a similar issue with your Seat Leon and it was just a coolant leak. I'll definitely ring up my mechanic and mention this. Just curious, do you recall the dent this put on your wallet? Also, did any other problems pop up with the AC or anything else since the fix? Thanks in advance, really appreciate your help!

Hey! Glad to see you found my tips helpful. Regarding the cost, it did pinch a bit. The whole fix, including the leak detection, sealing, and coolant refill, ended up at 495€. Not cheap for sure, but it was well worth it - far better to spend it upfront than have it snowball into a bigger issue. Since then, the old girl's been running smooth. No more sweaty drives in the summer, thankfully! And to directly address your question, the air conditioning control valve was indeed the ragged soldier, but since it's been shown some TLC by my mechanic, there've been no problems at all. It really proved to be a worthy fix! So yeah, might be worth getting yours looked at. Wanted to be transparent about my experience! Hope that helps and all the best with your Tarraco!

Hey, thanks a million for your responses and being so transparent about your experience. 495 € doesn't sound too terrible considering the peace of mind it brings. Plus, avoiding sweaty drives is a definite plus, haha! I do hope my troublemaking AC's the same case and nothing major. I'll be taking my Tarraco to the mechanic soon, fingers crossed for the best possible outcome. Once it's done, I'll drop you a line on how it went. Your advice has been super helpful! Cheers!
