350Z GPS No Reception

Alright Z-heads, I'm tearing my hair out here! My 2005 Nissan 350Z (gasoline engine) is throwing a fit with its GPS. The nav system is basically useless; it keeps saying 'no GPS reception.' I hooked it up to a code reader and it's throwing an error related to the GPS antenna. Has anyone else wrestled with this demon? Before I start ripping apart the dash, any ideas?

Dude, that sucks. I had a similar nightmare with my old BMW 3 series a while back. The GPS just up and quit. Did you check the antenna connection itself? Sometimes they get loose or corroded. It's a long shot, but worth a peek before you go nuclear.

Good call! Where exactly is the antenna located on these Z's? Is it a pain to get to? I'm trying to avoid a full-blown dash excavation if I can.

On my Beemer it was under the rear spoiler... a total PITA. I'm not sure about the 350Z, but honestly, based on my experience, if it's not the connection, the antenna itself is probably toast. Save yourself the headache and get it checked at a shop. I ended up shelling out some serious cash for a new antenna and install. Lesson learned!

Yep, you were spot on! Took it to a shop, and the antenna was indeed cooked. 200€ later, I've got satellite lock again. Thanks for the heads-up about just getting it checked out!
