350Z parking aid malfunction
Summary of the thread
The parking aid system on a 2002 Nissan 350Z has stopped working, with no display or beeps, and a scanner indicates an error with the parking assist module. Possible causes include faulty wiring, a disconnected camera connection near the trunk latch, or malfunctioning proximity sensors in the bumper. Suggested solutions involve checking these connections and sensors, and if necessary, consulting a professional to diagnose and fix potential wiring issues.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the camera connection located? And how can I check the proximity sensors? Are they easy to access? I don't want to start ripping apart the bumper without a clue, haha.

Okay, so the camera connection is usually near the trunk latch. You might have to peel back some of the trim to get to it. And about the sensors, they're in the bumper. Honestly, if you're not comfortable messing with the wiring, I'd suggest getting it checked by a shop. I did a bit of poking around myself, but eventually, I took it in. Turns out, it was a corroded wire. Cost me like 95€ to fix. Saved me a huge headache.

Thanks a lot for your help! I'll check the camera connection first and then think about visiting the workshop.

Dude, I had a similar problem with my 350Z! My rearview camera just decided to take a permanent vacation. The screen would stay black when I put it in reverse. Did you check the camera connection itself? Might sound silly, but it's worth a shot. Or maybe one of the proximity sensors is borked? Happened on my wife's SUV before. It's like one bad Christmas tree light taking down the whole string, you know?
