350Z Poor Fuel Economy and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan 350Z is experiencing poor fuel economy, occasional stalling when idling, and the check engine light is on, accompanied by smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, which is a common problem in these vehicles. It is recommended to have the vehicle scanned for error codes at a workshop to confirm the diagnosis and address the issue effectively.

Interesting! You think it's definitely the MAF sensor? Where did you see the biggest difference when yours went bad? Was it mostly the fuel economy, or something else?

Hard to say 'definitely' without looking at it, but all those symptoms point that way, right? I'd bet on it. TBH, just take it to a workshop so they can scan the codes. I ended up paying 365€ for the repair, but now it runs great!

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate the cautious advice. I'll take it to a shop and get it checked out. Sounds like the MAF sensor is the prime suspect. Hopefully, it won't cost me too much!

Sounds familiar! I had almost identical issues with my 350Z a while back. Higher fuel consumption, engine cutting out... was a pain. Did you try checking the air-fuel ratio? Could be running rich. Sensor failure is pretty common on these.
