Thanks for the quick response! I should have included the code. The scanner showed P0600 - Serial Communication Link Malfunction. Does that change your assessment? Is there anything I can easily check myself before taking it to a shop?

P0600 indicates a communication issue, which in your case is very likely related to the third-party chip tuning. While it is theoretically possible to inspect the wiring and connections related to the chip, given your description and the potential complexities, I must advise against attempting any repairs yourself. Incorrect handling could exacerbate the problem or even cause further damage. I strongly recommend taking your 350Z to a qualified workshop that specializes in vehicle diagnostics. They possess the necessary tools and expertise to properly diagnose and rectify the issue.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I was hoping to avoid a trip to the mechanic, but it sounds like it's the best course of action. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! The chip tuning was indeed the culprit. They reflashed the ECU and removed the dodgy chip. Cost me 180€, but the car is running like a dream again. Thanks!

Greetings. The symptoms you describe, coupled with the fault code and aftermarket chip tuning, strongly suggest a potential issue stemming from the modification. It is plausible that the chip tuning is not correctly calibrated for your engine's specific parameters, or that the chip itself is faulty. Can you provide the specific fault code number that your scanner is reporting? Knowing the exact code would help narrow down the potential causes.
