Injector cleaning, eh? How would you test them?

I'm no expert but I think you can test the spray pattern and flow rate. A defective injection valve could cause those cold start problems. I ended up biting the bullet and taking it to a workshop. Saved me a lot of hassle!

Thanks. Workshop it is. It was the injector indeed. Cost 515€ to fix. Appreciate the help.

Sounds familiar! Had similar poor running on cold start with my old Alfa Romeo. I had engine misfires, especially noticeable when the engine was cold. Have you considered cleaning the fuel injectors? Or maybe testing them?
