4007 Intermittent Starting and Shifting Issues

Hi, I've got a 2007 Peugeot 4007, gasoline engine, with 178272 km on the clock. Recently, it's developed a problem where it won't start sometimes, and the check engine light comes on. I'm also experiencing some unclean shifting with the automatic transmission. I pulled the error codes and it seems related to the transmission parking position. Could a defective control unit really cause all these problems?

Sounds like a shift lock issue. Does it happen intermittently, or is it a consistent problem? Have you checked the gear shifter linkage for any obvious signs of damage or obstruction?

It's intermittent, which is the really annoying part. I checked the linkage, nothing obviously broken or out of place. If it was the control unit, wouldn't it affect more than just the parking position?

A faulty control unit can cause erratic behavior and affect various functions, not just the parking position. Given the symptoms and error code, a defective control unit is plausible. But is replacing it something you want to tackle yourself?

Thanks for the input. I appreciate the cautious advice. I've decided to take it to a workshop. Turns out, it was indeed the control unit. Cost me 1000€ to get it sorted.
