Thanks for the suggestions. Where exactly are those switches located? And how would I check the connections?

On the Megane, the brake pedal switch was right above the brake pedal, easy to spot. The clutch switch was similar, near the clutch pedal. The connections are just plugs; check they're firmly in place and not corroded. Honestly, if you're not comfortable poking around, it might be best to get a workshop to take a look. I ended up doing that myself.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right; it was a defective cable/plug connection. The repair cost me 95€. All sorted now.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Cruise control just died. For me, it turned out to be a faulty pedal switch. The car thought I was always pressing the brake or clutch, which disables the cruise control. Might be worth checking the connections to your brake light switch and clutch switch, if it's a manual. Could also be a faulty speed sensor. A defective clock spring can also cause issues.
