4Runner AC Control Unit Defect

My 2007 Toyota 4Runner (diesel) with 135959 km is throwing errors. The temp sensor on the heat exchanger seems defective. I'm getting an error code, a dash message, and the AC won't kick on. Suspect a bad AC control unit?

Summary of the thread

This defect is causing error codes, a dashboard message, and preventing the AC from functioning. The problem is suspected to be linked to a faulty AC control unit. I had a similar issue with my 4Runner. Was the error related to the coolant temperature? Also, have you checked for any coolant leaks around the heat exchanger or the temperature sensor itself?

Coolant level is fine. The error points specifically to the temp sensor on the heat exchanger. It's not reading correctly, or at all. You had the same sensor issue?

Yes, the same sensor. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop, they can run proper diagnostics to be sure. It is most likely the air conditioning control unit.

Thanks. Looks like that is the way to go. Workshop confirmed the AC control unit is defective. Quoted 980€ for the repair.
