4Runner AC Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota 4Runner with a diesel engine experienced air conditioning issues, where the system wouldn't switch on or cool. The problem was suspected to be related to undervoltage. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed an undervoltage-related compressor shut-off, which was resolved for a cost.

Where exactly is the AC relay located? And how would I check for a refrigerant leak without proper tools?

The AC relay should be in the main fuse box, usually under the hood. But honestly, without the right equipment, detecting a refrigerant leak yourself is tough. Given the error code and the symptoms, it really sounds like it's time to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

Took it to a workshop like you suggested! The diagnosis was undervoltage-related compressor shut-off. They sorted it, costing me 240€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my 4Runner. Is it possible you have a refrigerant leak? It could also be a dodgy AC relay or even the pressure switch playing up. Have you checked those?
