4Runner Air Suspension Issue

I'm hoping someone can help out with my 2007 Toyota 4Runner diesel. It's got relatively low mileage, around 27816 km. Recently, I've been experiencing some pretty concerning issues. The vehicle seems unable to lift itself anymore, and it's noticeably leaning to one side. I'm also getting an error message in the speedometer, and the ride has become incredibly bumpy. I plugged it into a code reader and it is throwing up an error related to suspension. Does anyone have any ideas? Could a faulty air suspension bellows valve be the culprit?

Greetings. I had very similar symptoms on my 4Runner. You mentioned an error code related to the suspension. Can you provide the specific code? Leaning and inability to lift strongly suggest an issue with the air suspension system, more specifically the air springs or valve block. Has the compressor been running more than normal? Do you hear any audible hissing sounds when the system attempts to level?

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't remember the exact code off the top of my head, but I'm quite sure it referenced the air suspension system. I haven't noticed the compressor running constantly, but I'll pay closer attention. Regarding hissing sounds, is it possible to hear it from inside the vehicle? Also, did you also have to replace the suspension air bag valve?

On my 4Runner I had air suspension issues that presented in a similar way. The error code would be extremely helpful, but based on your description, a defective suspension air bag valve is highly probable. You may or may not hear a hissing sound from inside, it depends on the severity and location of the leak. I recommend taking it to a reputable workshop to have the system properly diagnosed and the valve replaced. Continuing to drive it in that state could damage the compressor as well.

Thanks so much for your advice! I took your advice and brought it to a workshop, they confirmed it was the suspension air bag valve and replaced it. The total cost was around 590€. The ride is back to normal now!
