4Runner Blower Motor Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2015 Toyota 4Runner experienced a blower motor failure, with no airflow despite the climate control panel lighting up. An error code indicated an issue with the blower motor circuit, suggesting a possible open or shorted circuit. While a faulty blower motor resistor was considered, the complete lack of function pointed more towards a motor failure. Ultimately, replacing the defective blower motor resolved the issue.

The code points directly to the blower motor circuit being open or shorted. I figured it probably is the motor itself. I just find it hard to believe since everything else works. You think the resistor could cause a complete failure like that? I have no experience with those things.

Given the specificity of the error code and your description, it does seem the blower motor is suspect. The resistor failing usually results in only some fan speeds failing, not a complete cessation of function. A shorted or open motor circuit is more indicative of motor failure. I would recommend consulting a qualified technician for a conclusive diagnosis.

Thanks for the input. Turns out it was exactly what I thought: the blower motor was defective. 365€ later, the car is fixed and the heater fan works again.

I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. I would suggest checking the blower motor resistor. Those things can be very sensitive and if the resistor fails, it can prevent the blower motor from receiving the correct voltage. Is the error code specific enough to isolate the motor itself, or is it a more generic HVAC system fault?
