Thanks for the reply! Where exactly is the clock spring located, and is it something I can get to without taking the whole steering wheel apart? And the brake lights are a good point, I'll have to get someone to check those while I press the pedal.

Okay, so the clock spring is behind the steering wheel, and yeah, you would need to remove the airbag and steering wheel to get to it. If you aren't comfortable doing that, I would suggest taking it to a workshop. Messing with the airbag system can be dangerous. In my case, I took it to the shop, they checked the cable and plug connection, and after the replacement of the defective component, everything worked fine again.

Thanks a lot! I think I'll take your advice and bring it to a local mechanic. It's probably the safest bet considering the airbag. I'll post here when I get it sorted. The repair cost, for me, was 95€ in the end.

I had a similar problem with my Toyota 4Runner, though it's an older model. Have you checked the connection to the clock spring in the steering wheel? Sometimes those connections can get loose or corroded, and it'll knock out your cruise control and other steering wheel functions. Also, make sure your brake lights are working properly, as the cruise control is designed to disengage if it detects a problem with the braking system.
