4Runner Manifold Pressure Sensor Issue

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2003 Toyota 4Runner diesel. Recently, the check engine light comes on, and I've noticed a pretty significant reduction in engine power and poorer engine response. Fuel consumption seems higher than normal too. A friend ran a diagnostic and it came back with a faulty manifold pressure sensor. I think there might be large vacuum leakage? Has anyone dealt with this before?

I had a similar issue with my 4Runner. When the manifold pressure sensor goes bad, it can cause those symptoms. Have you checked the sensor and the surrounding vacuum lines for any obvious damage?

Thanks for the quick reply! I took a quick look at the sensor itself, and all the wirings seem okay. I don't see any obvious cracks or breaks in the lines, but I'm far from an expert on this. Any tips on how to check for vacuum leaks more thoroughly?

Honestly, without proper equipment, it can be tough to pinpoint the exact location of the leak, but that's most likely the problem. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop; they can run proper diagnostics and replace the sensor if needed.

Okay, appreciate the advice, I'll take it to a local shop. They confirmed it was a faulty manifold pressure sensor due to, like you said, a vacuum leak. Quoted 235€ for the sensor replacement and to fix the leak. Thanks again!
