4Runner Manifold Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Toyota 4Runner diesel is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption. A diagnostic identified a faulty manifold pressure sensor, possibly due to a vacuum leak. The suggested solution is to inspect the sensor and vacuum lines for damage and consider professional diagnostics and repair, which confirmed the issue and provided a quote for replacement and leak repair.

Thanks for the quick reply! I took a quick look at the sensor itself, and all the wirings seem okay. I don't see any obvious cracks or breaks in the lines, but I'm far from an expert on this. Any tips on how to check for vacuum leaks more thoroughly?

Honestly, without proper equipment, it can be tough to pinpoint the exact location of the leak, but that's most likely the problem. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop; they can run proper diagnostics and replace the sensor if needed.

Okay, appreciate the advice, I'll take it to a local shop. They confirmed it was a faulty manifold pressure sensor due to, like you said, a vacuum leak. Quoted 235€ for the sensor replacement and to fix the leak. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my 4Runner. When the manifold pressure sensor goes bad, it can cause those symptoms. Have you checked the sensor and the surrounding vacuum lines for any obvious damage?
