4Runner Washer Fluid Low Warning

I had a similar issue with my 4Runner. The windshield washer stopped working, and the error memory also had an error stored. Have you checked the spray jets themselves? Sometimes they get clogged with debris, which can cause back pressure and potentially burn out the washer motor. Also, did you use the correct windshield washer fluid? Some types can damage the system.

Thanks for the quick reply! Good shout on the spray jets, I'll give them a look. As for the fluid, I've always just used the standard blue stuff from the auto parts store. You reckon that could actually kill the motor? If it is the motor, is it a pain to replace?

While the 'blue stuff' is generally okay, some cheaper formulations can contain additives that gunk up the system over time. I would recommend checking the specifications for your car in the manual. If the standard fluid caused a problem, I would not be surprised. Replacing the motor isn't terribly difficult, but access can be a bit tight depending on the year. Given that you have an error stored and the motor isn't running, taking it to a workshop for a professional diagnostic might be the best course of action before you start replacing parts.

I brought my 4Runner to the workshop. Turns out, the wiper water level was indeed too low, causing the motor to burn out. New motor installed, system flushed, and I'm back in business for 25€! Thanks for the advice!
