607 Power Steering Faulty Connector

My 2001 Peugeot 607 diesel is giving me grief. The power steering is faulty. Steering wheel vibrates, handling is spongy, and the error memory has a stored error. Steering needs more effort, feels like the power steering assist is failing. Suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I've got a 607 too, and had similar issues. Was it only happening at certain speeds or all the time? Did you check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir?

It's happening all the time. Haven't checked the fluid level yet. What was the problem with yours?

Mine turned out to be a faulty connection, just as you suspected. If it's happening constantly, it's less likely to be the pump itself. Honestly, get it to a workshop and have them check the wiring and connections. It's the most likely culprit given the symptoms and error code.

Thanks for the info. Turns out you were spot on - faulty connector. Cost me 95€ to fix.
