806 Audio System Failure

Hi, I've got a 2000 Peugeot 806 with a diesel engine, and the audio system's completely dead. No sound at all comes out. I suspect it might be the bass speaker, but I'm not sure. Any ideas what to check?

I had something similar with my old Renault Scenic. Everything looked fine, but there was just radio silence. Did you check the fuses? It could also be a faulty head unit, though that's less likely.

Fuses look okay, and the head unit powers on fine. Are you saying it was definitely the head unit in your Scenic that was causing the complete lack of sound?

Well, not definitely. In my case, it turned out to be a deeper electrical issue. I'd suggest getting it checked by someone who knows audio systems. Could save you a lot of guessing.

Thanks for the tip. Took it to a workshop, and the bass speaker needed replacing, plus some wiring. Cost me 280€ to get sorted. Annoying, but at least I have tunes again.
