A Klasse charging issue diagnosis and resolution

My 2014 Mercedes A Klasse with a gasoline engine is showing reduced engine power and a speedometer warning light. It's hard to start, the lights flicker, and there's a charging system error stored. With 251639 km mileage, I'm guessing it's the generator and estimating a 960€ repair. Could a bad generator cause engine misfires or serpentine belt issues, or am I looking at other problems too?

I had similar symptoms on my A Klasse. See if the battery low signal is on. The charging system might be the problem, not charging the battery correctly. This can cause a lot of electrical problems.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me what part of the charging system failed in your case? Were there any specific error codes?

I didn't get into the details beyond knowing it was the generator. Given the symptoms, I'd suggest taking it to a shop for a full check and repair.

Thanks for the help. I took the car to a shop, and they confirmed the generator was bad. Replacing it fixed the problem, and the charging system is working fine now.
