A Klasse Door Handle Keyless Entry Problem
Summary of the thread
The keyless entry on a Mercedes A Klasse driver's door stopped working, with a diagnostic scan revealing a fault in the door electronics. The issue was suspected to be a wiring fault or a dodgy plug connection. A similar past experience suggested checking the door switch mechanism and wiring harness for damage or corrosion. Ultimately, a broken wire in the door wiring harness was identified and repaired, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I haven't checked the door switch itself yet, but I will. When you had the problem, was it definitely a wiring fault, or could it be the door actuator itself?

In my particular instance, a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation revealed an intermittent discontinuity within the wiring loom proximate to the door hinge. However, it is indeed plausible that the door actuator, or even the keyless entry module, could be implicated as the source of the malfunction. Given the potential complexity of the system, I would recommend entrusting the matter to a qualified automotive technician, who can conduct a thorough inspection using specialized diagnostic instrumentation. A competent technician will be able to isolate the faulty component with precision, thus precluding unnecessary expenditures on extraneous parts. I trust this elucidation proves beneficial to your endeavor.

Thanks a lot. I followed your advice and took it to a workshop. They found a broken wire in the door wiring harness, just like you suggested. Repair cost 95€. Everything's working fine now.

I am quite familiar with such matters, having encountered a comparable predicament with my own A Klasse. These systems, while convenient, are often susceptible to failure owing to the intricate network of cabling and sensors integrated within the door assembly. The 'door electronics' fault registered within your diagnostic system intimates a disruption within the communication pathway between the keyless entry module and the door actuator. Have you inspected the door switch mechanism itself for any signs of physical impairment or corrosion? Furthermore, I propose a meticulous examination of the wiring harness that traverses from the vehicle's chassis into the door cavity. It is plausible that repeated opening and closing of the door may have induced fatigue or severance within the wiring, thereby precipitating the observed malfunction. Is the central locking functioning correctly on all other doors?
