A Klasse W176 Passenger Seat Issue
Summary of the thread
The passenger seat adjustment in a 2012 Mercedes A Klasse is not working, and a fault code related to the seat electrics was identified. The issue may be linked to a recently discharged battery, which could have affected the seat's electrical components. Suggestions include checking the seat switch, inspecting the main connector block and wiring under the seat for any damage, and considering a battery test. If the problem persists, professional diagnostics and potential seat switch replacement are recommended.

Thanks for the quick response When you say 'seat harness', are you referring to the main connector block under the seat, or should I be looking for something more specific Also, did your error code point directly to the seat, or was it more vague

Yes, I meant the main connector block under the passenger seat, and any other visible connections along the seat wiring Look for anything obviously loose or damaged My error code was fairly specific, something along the lines of 'passenger seat motor circuit fault' Given you've checked the fuses, and the battery was low, it's possible a surge damaged something in the seat's control module or a motor Honestly, if you're not comfortable with electrical troubleshooting, it might be worth taking it to a shop I ended up having a workshop look at it They diagnosed a faulty seat switch after checking the harness and the seat wiring

Appreciate the advice I'll take another look at the connector and wiring, but I think you're right, it's probably beyond my current skill level I'll book it into a workshop They quoted me around 290€ for diagnostics and likely seat switch replacement Thanks again

I had a similar issue with the passenger seat in my A Klasse Symptoms sound identical If your battery was discharged, that could very well be the culprit Modern car seats are like mini computers; they need stable power I would check the seat switch itself, but also carefully inspect the seat harness underneath the seat Sometimes wires can get pinched or disconnected If you can, borrow a known good battery and see if the issue goes away to confirm your suspicion It might save you a lot of unnecessary work tracing seat wiring
