Thanks for sharing your experience with the A5 transport mode issue. Just had my A4 fixed last month for the same software problem. You mentioned a full diagnostic scan, curious what the total repair cost was for you? The immobilizer and automotive electronics started working normally after the fix in my case, but wondering if you encountered any other glitches afterward? My dealership mentioned these software update issues can sometimes resurface.

Really glad your A4 transport mode issue got resolved. In my case with the A5, the complete software update and diagnostic check was covered under warranty since the vehicle was new at the time. Total cost was 0 Euro, including the system reprogramming. After the fix, all car electronics returned to normal operation with no recurring issues. The diagnostic scan confirmed all control modules were communicating properly. Car configuration has remained stable for over a year now with no software glitches or transport mode reactivating. The key is getting a proper diagnostic check done by technicians with the right equipment. While engine start and basic functions might work in transport mode, leaving it unresolved can affect various electronic systems over time. If your dealership mentions potential recurring issues, keep your diagnostic reports. This helps track any patterns if you need future software updates or electronic repairs.

Just got back from the repair shop last week and wanted to close this thread with my experience. The total repair came to 450 Euro for the diagnostic work and software updates. More than I wanted to spend but less than I feared. The automotive technician found the immobilizer system was part of the problem, causing some of those electrical warnings. They ran a complete system reset and updated all control modules. The vehicle settings are now working perfectly, nav system, key fob, everything. Took about 3 hours total at the shop. The engine start function never had issues, but all those electronic glitches were stressing me out. Found a specialist shop that actually knew what they were doing instead of going back to my usual mechanic. Really appreciate the feedback here, helped me understand what I was dealing with and not get overcharged. No issues since the fix, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Had a similar transport mode issue with my 2015 A5 2.0T last season. The symptoms matched exactly, navigation system completely down and multiple electrical malfunction warnings on the dash. The root cause was a software update that failed during installation, causing the vehicle settings to revert to transport mode. The key fob also started acting unpredictably. While engine start remained functional, most electronic comfort features were disabled. At the garage, they performed a full diagnostic scan followed by a complete system reset and software update. This was actually a known issue requiring specialized diagnostic equipment to resolve. Not a simple fix you can do at home, but also not a major mechanical problem that would cause long-term damage. The repair process took about 4 hours total. They had to reprogram multiple control modules and verify all systems were communicating properly. Worth mentioning this is different from regular electrical issues, transport mode is specifically related to vehicle software and control unit settings. Recommend finding a shop with proper diagnostic capabilities for German vehicles. They should be able to provide a diagnostic report before starting any work.
