A6 Height Control & Air Suspension Malfunction Fix Guide

Looking for advice on my 2022 A6 (62k km) with height control issues. The car feels uneven between front and rear, and the beam light positioning is off. Getting a warning light on the dash and the ride quality has gotten really bumpy lately. Already got a diagnostic scan showing height control errors. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so hoping to hear from others who dealt with similar leveling sensor or air suspension problems. Could this be a control module issue? Anyone had this fixed and can recommend what to look out for when getting it repaired?

Having experienced similar symptoms on my 2019 A7, this sounds like a faulty leveling sensor system. The uneven ride height and misaligned headlights are typical indicators of a compromised ride height control system. In my case, the control rod connecting to the leveling sensor had corroded and eventually failed. The warning lights appeared after the sensor started sending incorrect data to the control module. The bumpy ride occurred because the air suspension system couldn't properly adjust to road conditions. This turned out to be a serious issue requiring immediate attention, as it affected both safety and vehicle dynamics. The repair involved replacing the complete leveling sensor unit and recalibrating the air suspension system. The mechanic also had to perform a full system reset using specialized diagnostic equipment. Key points to check during repair: Condition of wiring harness connected to load sensor, Proper calibration of new leveling sensor, Correct initialization of the air suspension control module, Complete system diagnostic after repair While waiting for repair, avoid driving at higher speeds as the suspension might not respond correctly to load changes and road conditions.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Your symptoms match exactly what happened with my Audi A6 earlier this year. After my air suspension started acting up, the ride height became totally uneven. The automotive suspension specialist diagnosed a failing control module in the leveling system. Have you had any recurring height adjustment issues since the repair? Would really help to know what the final cost was in your case to get a ballpark figure before I take it to the shop.

Great to report that since getting my A7 fixed, the height control restricted warning has completely disappeared. The mechanic found the control rod on the leveling sensor was defective, which explained the uneven ride height issues we both experienced. The repair cost came to 110 Euro, which included replacing the faulty component and recalibrating the entire leveling system. The automotive suspension has been working flawlessly since the fix, no more warning lights, uneven riding, or headlight beam problems. The ride height adjusts perfectly now, and the car handles road conditions much better than before. If your symptoms match what I experienced, you might be looking at a similar repair scope. The key was having a proper diagnostic scan to pinpoint the exact issue with the leveling sensor system, rather than just guessing at the problem.

After dealing with my suspension issue, I finally got everything sorted. Found a certified shop specializing in air suspension systems. The mechanic immediately spotted the problem, a damaged control module that was causing the height adjustment system to malfunction. The repair took about 4 hours total. They replaced the faulty module and recalibrated the entire ride height control system. The final bill came to 890 Euro, including parts and labor. While not cheap, it was worth getting it done right. The automotive suspension now works perfectly, no more warning lights or uneven ride height. The beam alignment is back to normal and the bumpy ride is gone. Really glad I didn't wait longer to get it fixed, as the mechanic mentioned it could have caused additional wear on other suspension components. For anyone facing similar issues, get it checked quickly by someone who knows these systems well. The diagnostic scan was spot-on in identifying the control module failure.
