A6 Height Control & Suspension Malfunction Alert

My A6 is showing height control issues with warning lights and uneven suspension. The front seems lower than the rear, making the ride quite bumpy. This affects the headlight beam position too. The car is a 2020 model with 65650km on the clock, running on gasoline. Already had some less than stellar mechanic experiences, so looking for advice on whether this points to a suspension issue or control module problem. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and can recommend what to check first? Want to be better informed before heading back to a shop.

Had similar symptoms on my 2017 A7 with the air suspension system. The height control warning and uneven ride height pointed to a faulty load sensor at the front suspension. The telltale signs matched exactly, lower front end, erratic ride height adjustments, and headlight beam throwing off. The load sensor was no longer providing accurate readings to the control module, causing the air suspension to improperly adjust ride height. This turned into a serious issue that required immediate attention since incorrect ride height affects multiple systems, from suspension geometry to safety features. The repair involved replacing the front load sensor and recalibrating the entire air suspension system. Key points to check: Load sensor connections and wiring, Air suspension compressor function, Control module error codes, Signs of air leaks around struts Would strongly recommend having a certified shop diagnose this, as the air suspension system requires specific diagnostic equipment. Driving with faulty height control can lead to accelerated wear of suspension components and unsafe handling characteristics. Based on the symptoms, age and mileage of your A6, this aligns with typical load sensor failure patterns seen in these models.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This matches what I am dealing with on my A6. The uneven ride height and warning lights are exactly as you described. Had the car at a shop last week and they also suspected the load sensor, but wanted to get some real-world feedback before proceeding with repairs. Can you recall roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also curious if you have experienced any related suspension issues since getting it repaired? The mechanic mentioned something about the control module potentially needing adjustment too, so trying to understand if that is a common follow-up problem.

After getting the leveling sensor and control rod fixed on my A7, the Height control restricted warning completely disappeared. The total repair came to 110 Euro which covered the replacement of the defective control rod on the sensor. The automotive suspension has been working flawlessly since the repair. The leveling system actually did not require any additional control module adjustments in my case. The height adjustment and load sensing functions returned to normal operation once the faulty parts were replaced. The front-to-rear height differential resolved itself immediately after the repair. Just ensure your shop properly calibrates the leveling sensor after replacement, this is crucial for proper system operation. Mine has been trouble-free for over 8 months now with no warning lights or uneven suspension issues returning. Based on those symptoms you described, sounds like you are dealing with the exact same issue I had. Getting it fixed promptly helps prevent additional wear on other suspension components.

Finally went ahead and got this fixed last week. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed the front load sensor causing the height control issues, just as suggested here. Repair cost came to 160 Euro including labor, which seems reasonable given the specialized nature of air suspension work. The fix took about 2 hours. They replaced the faulty height sensor and checked the ride height sensors all around. The automotive suspension is now perfectly leveled and the warning lights have disappeared completely. Really notice the difference in ride quality and handling, no more uneven suspension or headlight beam issues. Glad I got this sorted before it caused any additional problems. The mechanic mentioned these sensors typically need attention around this mileage point, so the timing made sense. For anyone else facing similar symptoms, definitely worth getting it checked out sooner rather than later.
