A7 Air Suspension Failure Causes Uneven Ride Height

Last service was at 149000 KM with current mileage at 154757 KM. The workshop just called and said they found a damaged load sensor that was sending incorrect data to the control module. The height adjustment system was compensating based on faulty readings. They showed me how the suspension issue was directly linked to the bad sensor. Parts and labor estimate is 290 Euro. Going ahead with the repair since it seems like a reasonable diagnosis and fix.

Thanks for the update on your A7. That diagnosis aligns perfectly with what I experienced. When my load sensor failed, it also caused the control module to make incorrect height adjustments based on bad data. The 290 Euro repair cost seems reasonable, it actually cost me more since they had to replace additional components in my case. The height sensor system is quite sensitive, and a faulty load sensor can definitely cause all those symptoms you described, uneven stance, misaligned headlights, and the bumpy ride. After my repair, the car regained proper ride height adjustment and the warning lights cleared immediately. The suspension started working as intended again, maintaining consistent vehicle height under different loads. Make sure they perform a full calibration of the height adjustment system after installing the new load sensor. This ensures the control module has accurate reference points for proper operation. Given your mileage is similar to when I had my issue, this is likely just normal wear and tear on the sensor components. The repair should resolve all your symptoms.

Thank you everyone for the insights. Just wanted to close the loop, got the car back from the workshop and the repair was successful. The leveling system is working perfectly now, maintaining proper ride height in all conditions. The suspension feels smooth again and the headlights are properly aligned. The warning lights are gone and the control module shows no more errors. The mechanic showed me the old load sensor and explained how its deterioration affected the height adjustment system. Made sense why the automotive suspension was behaving erratically. The 290 Euro ended up being the final cost, exactly as quoted. For anyone searching with similar symptoms, uneven stance and suspension warnings, definitely have your leveling sensors checked. Getting the proper diagnosis saved me from unnecessarily replacing other components. Very happy with the outcome.

I had a similar issue with my 2013 A6 last year. For context, I have some experience working on cars but leave complex suspension work to professionals. The symptoms were nearly identical, uneven ride height and misaligned headlights. After diagnosing, the workshop found a faulty control rod connected to the height sensor. The height adjustment system was getting incorrect readings, causing the automotive suspension to behave erratically. The fix involved replacing the control rod and recalibrating the ride height sensors. Total cost was 110 Euro including labor. Since then, the suspension has worked perfectly and the car sits level again. To better assist with your situation, could you share: Current mileage, When did the issue start, Any recent suspension work or accidents, Whether the control module shows specific error codes, If the issue gets worse in cold/wet weather The control module errors you mentioned could indicate similar problems, but proper diagnosis is essential since height sensor systems can be complex. Having the exact error codes would help narrow down the cause.
