The sensor failure diagnosis was spot on, and the engine control system is now working perfectly. Haven't experienced any engine misfire or ignition timing issues since the repair. The shop found the encoder wheel had significant wear, which was causing incorrect readings and messing with the engine timing. They did a thorough job replacing both components. The engine starts smoothly now and maintains proper idle, completely different from before when it would stall and misfire. No related problems have shown up since the fix. Just make sure to go to a shop that really knows these engines, as proper installation and timing adjustment is crucial for these camshaft components to work correctly.
