ABS, brake pedal and warning lights on the Seat Ibiza model year 2011

Hi friends, I have a problem with my Seat Ibiza, year 2011, gasoline engine. I have noticed some strange symptoms: ABS warning light is on, the brake pedal feels funny, the ABS/DSC system doesn't seem to work, the brake light doesn't work and there is a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect it could be the brake pedal position sensor. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and could perhaps give me some tips on what it could be and how it was solved in the workshop? Your experience would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Seat Ibiza is experiencing issues with the ABS warning light, a malfunctioning brake pedal, non-working brake lights, and a warning light on the speedometer. The initial suspicion is a faulty brake pedal position sensor. A similar issue in a 2013 Seat Leon was resolved by replacing a defective control unit, suggesting this could be a potential cause. It is recommended to have the control unit checked and possibly replaced, which typically takes about two days in a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I'm not a professional, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. I had a similar problem with my 2013 Seat Leon. In my case, the control unit was defective. It was replaced in the workshop and cost me around 1000 euros. So before you continue driving, it's better to have the control unit checked to be on the safe side. To shed more light on the matter, I would need some more information about your car, especially the exact model name and what kind of maintenance has been carried out so far. Please give me more information so that I can help you better. I'm looking forward to your answer!

Hi, thanks for the tip about the control unit, I'll have it checked! My Ibiza was last serviced at a mileage of 102250 km - it was a standard inspection. After that everything was fine, the problems only came later. Can you perhaps tell me how long it took you to change the control unit? I hope it doesn't take too long, I have to drive long distances next week... Thanks again!

Hey, I'm glad you found the tip useful. The standard inspection is a good thing, so the car should generally be in good condition. When I replaced the control unit, the car was in the workshop for about two days. Of course, it depends on how busy your garage is at the moment. If you have to drive long distances next week, I would advise you to make an appointment as soon as possible. Better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to the brakes. I hope this helps you. Have a good trip and let me know if you have any questions!

Hello, thanks again for the information! Two days shouldn't be a problem, I'll probably make an appointment at the workshop tomorrow. That was really helpful. If I have any further questions, I'll get in touch. See you then!
