ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor

I'm encountering a persistent issue with my 2008 Ford Focus diesel. The ABS lamp is on, and the ABS system has failed. A diagnostic scan shows an error related to the lateral acceleration sensor. I suspect the control unit is defective. Has anyone else experienced this? Any insights before I dive in?

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my old BMW 3 Series. The symptoms were identical – ABS light, system failure, and a lateral acceleration sensor fault code. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. Do you have traction control or vehicle stability control? Was that impacted too?

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, it does have traction control, and that appears to be non-functional as well. Vehicle stability definitely seems compromised. Were you able to resolve the issue yourself, or did you end up taking it to a professional?

I tried a few things, but honestly, it became too complex for my home garage. I ended up taking it to a reputable independent shop. They confirmed my suspicion – a faulty control unit. Given the cost and complexity, it wasn't worth tackling myself without the right equipment and software. Best to get it sorted professionally, I think.

Appreciate the advice. I suspected as much. Looks like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. I've been quoted around 1000€ for the repair, which seems in line with what I've researched. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions!
