ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor Hilux

I'm having an issue with my 2006 Toyota Hilux diesel. The ABS lamp lights up, causing the ABS system to fail, and there's an error stored in the error memory related to the lateral acceleration sensor. Has anyone experienced this before? Could a defective control unit really be the cause?

Lateral acceleration sensor fault, eh? Seeing the ABS light and a stored error definitely points to an issue within the electronic stability system. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the sensor itself? Could be a simple case of corrosion or a loose connection. Also, what other symptoms are you experiencing besides the ABS failure? Does it affect steering angle or traction control?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've checked the wiring as best I can, but without a detailed wiring diagram, I'm struggling to trace everything. As for other symptoms, I have noticed the traction control seems less responsive at times, and there is an error related to the yaw rate sensor. Could it really be that both sensors are bad?

A defective control unit affecting multiple sensors is more probable than multiple sensor failures simultaneously. Given the symptoms and the error codes, the defective control unit is indeed the likely cause. I would recommend a workshop visit.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. The control unit was defective. The repair cost me around 1000€. At least it's sorted now.
