ABS Speed Signal Fault

I'm having a speed signal fault on my 2006 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine. The ABS lamp lights up, I'm experiencing traction problems, and the ABS system is failing. I ran diagnostics and it points to a defective control unit. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue on my 2012 Audi A4. ABS and traction control going haywire. The error codes pointed towards a wheel speed sensor malfunction. Was the diagnostic tool able to pinpoint which sensor or is it a general fault?

The diagnostic tool wasn't specific. It just flagged the ABS control unit as the source of the error. Could a faulty wheel speed sensor trigger the control unit fault?

Yes, a bad wheel speed sensor can definitely cascade into a control unit fault. In my case, replacing the sensor didn't solve the root cause, and ABS unit was indeed defective. Given your symptoms and the diagnostic result, best get it checked out by a workshop. It ended up costing me around 1000€ to fix

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like the control unit is toast. I'll take it to a workshop and get a quote. Looks like similar cost for repair.
