Thanks for sharing your experience with the Swift. My Wagon R had those exact symptoms, and the traction control was also acting up. The yaw rate sensor ended up being the culprit, and replacing it fixed both the ABS and stability issues. Quick question, do you remember what the total repair cost was? Also, have you had any similar warning lights or problems since the fix? Just want to compare notes since these safety systems are critical and repair costs can vary quite a bit.

Since having my Swift repaired, everything has worked perfectly with no warning lights returning. The lateral acceleration sensor replacement along with the affected control unit cost 1000€ total, including diagnostic scan and recalibration. The electronic stability system and traction control have functioned flawlessly for the past year. When safety systems like these malfunction, getting them fixed properly is worth every cent, even if the initial cost seems high. The shop confirmed the yaw rate readings were back to normal after the repair, which is crucial for both stability control and ABS performance. Its good to hear your Wagon R issues were resolved too. These sensor problems can be tricky to diagnose, but once fixed properly, the systems usually remain reliable.

I took my Wagon R to a specialized shop last week after reading these responses. The mechanic found the same yaw rate sensor issue and quoted 850€ for the complete fix. Initially hesitated due to cost but went ahead since its a critical safety component. The repair took about 4 hours. They replaced the faulty sensor, performed a steering angle calibration, and ran multiple tests to ensure the vehicle stability system was working correctly. The mechanic showed me the before and after diagnostic readings which confirmed the lateral sensor was definitely the problem. Happy to report the ABS light hasnt come on since, and the whole stability system works perfectly now. The braking feels much more confident, especially during hard stops. Even though I spent more than expected, knowing the safety systems are working properly gives real peace of mind.

Had the same issue on a 2009 Suzuki Swift with the ABS warning. A diagnostic scan revealed problems with the lateral acceleration sensor, which is crucial for both ABS and electronic stability control systems. The vehicle stability system was compromised, causing inconsistent ABS performance. The problem stemmed from a defective control unit that needed replacement. This isnt a repair to postpone as it affects core safety systems. The repair involved replacing the faulty sensor and recalibrating the electronic control module. After fixing, the garage performed a complete wheel alignment to ensure all stability systems worked correctly. The symptoms you describe match exactly what happened, intermittent ABS light and unstable ABS performance. This is a serious safety concern that requires immediate attention, as it impacts braking effectiveness and overall vehicle control, especially in emergency situations. Best approach would be to get a thorough diagnostic scan from a shop specializing in electronic stability systems. Make sure they check both the sensor and control unit, as sometimes replacing just the sensor wont solve the underlying issue.
