AC & Sensor Failures Point to Faulty Humidity Module

My AC suddenly stopped working and I noticed issues with the mirror heating and washer nozzles too. The automotive sensor warning in the dashboard shows an error code. Could this be related to a faulty humidity sensor? The car runs fine otherwise, but Im concerned about getting ripped off at the repair shop after a previous bad experience. Has anyone encountered similar electrical issues with these systems? For reference, its a 2019 Beetle with a gas engine and 34746km on the clock.

Having experienced similar symptoms in my 2016 Golf GTI, this sounds like a common electrical issue affecting the climate control module. The connection between multiple comfort features like AC, mirror heating, and washer nozzles typically indicates a central electrical malfunction rather than individual component failures. The humidity sensor plays a crucial role in the climate control system, but when multiple systems fail simultaneously, the root cause is often a damaged wiring harness or corroded main connector block. During my repair, the technician found water damage had affected the main connector feeding these circuits. The sensor calibration process alone would not resolve such widespread symptoms. In my case, the repair required removing the dashboard to access and replace the damaged wiring harness and connector block. This was a serious repair that took several hours, though not a mechanical issue affecting engine performance. The automotive sensor warning is actually helpful here, as it narrows down the diagnosis. Consider requesting the specific error code readout, which helps identify whether its a simple sensor issue or a more complex electrical problem requiring wiring repairs. Based on the symptoms described, prepare for a thorough electrical diagnostic session to identify the exact failure point in the system.

I had those exact same problems with my VW Beetle last winter. The humidity sensor and climate control issues got fixed, but I want to ask how the repair has held up for you? The mechanic told me water damage was causing the malfunction of multiple systems, which matches what you found. Would be great to know what you paid for the repair and if any other electrical problems showed up afterward. Getting the wiring harness replaced was not cheap in my case.

After my repair visit last winter, I can report the humidity sensor and related systems have worked flawlessly. The windshield fogging issues completely disappeared once they fixed the faulty cable connection near the main control module. The total cost came to 95€, which was actually less than expected since they didnt need to replace the entire wiring harness. The dashboard warning lights never came back, and all the comfort features like mirror heating and washer nozzles are functioning perfectly. The mechanic showed me where water had corroded the connector, but once they cleaned and properly sealed it, the automotive sensor system returned to normal operation. No additional electrical problems have surfaced since the repair. The climate control maintains consistent performance, and the car runs exactly as it should. Looking back, it was worth getting it properly diagnosed rather than trying temporary fixes that might have led to more expensive repairs later.

The repair experience turned out better than expected. After taking my Beetle to the certified shop, they quickly identified the issue through their diagnostic system. The mechanic found water damage affecting the main control unit, causing the climate control malfunction and sensor errors. The repair involved cleaning corroded connections and replacing a section of the wiring harness. While they had the dashboard partially removed, they also recalibrated the humidity sensor and checked all related systems. The total cost was 750€, which included parts and 4 hours of labor. Three months later, all systems are working perfectly. The visibility through the windshield stays clear even in wet weather, and the automotive sensor warning hasn't reappeared. The climate control maintains proper temperature, and both the mirror heating and washer nozzles function normally. This experience taught me the value of finding a reputable shop that properly diagnoses electrical issues. While the repair wasn't cheap, fixing the root cause prevented more expensive problems down the road. The car feels like new again, and I have peace of mind knowing the issue was properly resolved.
