Accent belt tensioner failure

Has anyone experienced a failing belt tensioner on a 2018 Hyundai Accent diesel with 147941 km? The belt-handover no longer works, and I suspect the belt bringer/handover itself is defective.

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Hyundai Accent diesel with 147,941 km is experiencing a failing belt tensioner, leading to issues with the belt handover. The problem is accompanied by a distinct engine noise, particularly at lower speeds. The cause is suspected to be a defective belt tensioner or a worn tensioner pulley. The recommended solution is to replace the entire tensioner, as improper belt tension can lead to further damage.

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa. The belt tensioner went bad, causing a weird noise. Is yours making any strange noises as well? It could be a tensioner pulley issue.

There is a distinct engine noise, particularly at lower speeds. Could you elaborate on what you mean by 'tensioner pulley issue'? Was the resolution straightforward?

By tensioner pulley, I meant that the pulley itself on the tensioner might be worn or damaged, causing the belt to slip or not maintain proper tension. In my case, the entire tensioner needed replacing. I would recommend seeking professional assistance since improper belt tension can damage other components.

I consulted a workshop, which confirmed a defective belt tensioner. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 455€.
