Accent exhaust leak NOx catalyst issue

I've got a 2003 Hyundai Accent with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and a scan says it's NOx storage catalyst aging. Plus, I hear an exhaust leak. I'm guessing the leak is the cause.

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Hyundai Accent is experiencing a check engine light due to NOx storage catalyst aging, accompanied by an exhaust leak. The exhaust leak is suspected to be the cause of the catalyst issue. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a workshop to address the exhaust leak and restore the catalyst's efficiency.

Interesting. I have a Hyundai Accent too, though I'm not sure what year. I had similar issues a while back. The check engine light and everything. Have you noticed any difference in your fuel efficiency?

Thanks. I haven't really checked the fuel efficiency closely. What issues did you have, and were they like mine?

Okay, so my Accent had a similar issue. The light came on, felt like I was losing power and that exhaust leak smell was strong. I would advise getting it checked out at a workshop. It could be a simple fix, but better to be safe than sorry with emissions stuff.

I appreciate the advice. It was indeed a leak in the exhaust system, leading to NOx catalyst inefficiency. The repair cost 265€.
