Accent IAT Sensor Error

Hi, I've got a problem with my 2010 Hyundai Accent diesel. The check engine light is on, and the car feels like it's lost a lot of power. I plugged in a diagnostic tool and it shows an error related to the intake air temperature sensor. It also runs a bit rough sometimes. Anyone had this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Hyundai Accent diesel is experiencing a check engine light and power loss, with a diagnostic tool indicating an intake air temperature (IAT) sensor error. The car also runs roughly at times. Possible causes include a faulty IAT sensor or loose connections. Suggested solutions involve checking the sensor for visible damage or loose connections and potentially replacing the sensor if the issue persists.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen in my Accent, although it was a while ago. Basically, the car felt like it was breathing through a straw, remember those old juice boxes? Turned out it was the IAT sensor messing things up. Have you checked the sensor itself for any visible damage or loose connections? That might be the easiest place to start before diving deeper.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the connections. Where exactly is the IAT sensor located? Is it easy to get to, or will I need to take half the engine apart?

Okay, so on mine, it was near the air filter box, kinda tucked away, but still accessible with basic tools. But honestly, and I'm just saying this from my own experience, if the connections look okay, and the sensor is still throwing errors, it might just be faulty. I ended up taking mine to a workshop, they swapped it out, and all was good. Cost me around 150€ if I recall correctly. Best to be safe than sorry!

Okay, thanks for the help. I'll check the connections first, but probably take it to the workshop indeed. The repair cost was 155€, so you were pretty close with your estimate!
