Accent intermittent starting and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Hyundai Accent diesel with nearly 200,000 kilometers is experiencing intermittent starting and stalling issues, sometimes running rough before stalling. The problem may be linked to a faulty ignition switch or issues with the wiring harness connected to it, especially since the issue worsens in wet weather. Checking for loose connections or corroded terminals in the ignition switch wiring harness is suggested, and replacing the ignition switch resolved the issue.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the wiring harness. Where exactly is that located? And yeah, come to think of it, it does seem worse when it's raining.

The ignition switch wiring harness is directly behind the ignition switch itself, under the steering column cover. Given that moisture seems to exacerbate the problem, it strongly suggests either a corroded connector or a wire with damaged insulation somewhere in that circuit. It might be beyond a simple DIY fix, maybe take it to a trusted workshop.

Okay, I see. Thanks a lot for your help. I followed your advice and had the ignition switch replaced. Seems like that fixed the issue, cost me 52€ Appreciate it!

I had similar problems with my Accent. It sounds suspiciously like a faulty ignition switch. Before throwing parts at it, have you checked the wiring harness connected to the switch? A loose connection or corroded terminal can cause intermittent issues like those you're describing. Also, does the problem seem worse in wet weather?
