Accent NOx Sensor Faulty Connection
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Hyundai Accent displayed a check engine light due to a NOx sensor failure, despite the sensor, cable, and plug appearing intact. The issue was suspected to be a defective connection, which was confirmed and resolved by cleaning the connection, clearing the error. Although a catalytic converter issue was considered, it was ultimately a separate exhaust leak caused by a loose clamp.

A damaged catalytic converter? The error code is P2201 - NOx Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1. Could a bad catalytic converter cause the NOx sensor to throw that code, even if the sensor is fine? Is there an easy way to test that?

The error code P2201 does suggest an issue with the NOx sensor itself, however, problems with the catalytic converter shouldn't be discarded. Considering the symptoms, and to avoid further damage, I would recommend consulting with a professional at a workshop. They can perform diagnostic tests to pinpoint the exact cause.

It was just a bad connection on the NOx sensor, like I suspected. I cleaned it, and the error is gone. The exhaust leak was a separate issue, a loose clamp. It's all sorted now for 95€! I appreciate the input about the catalytic converter; it's good to keep in mind for the future.

A faulty NOx sensor on a 2017 Hyundai Accent? Interesting. Have you considered that a damaged catalytic converter might also trigger such a code? What were the error codes stored in the memory?
