Accent Transmission Control Unit Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Hyundai Accent is experiencing transmission issues, likely due to a defective transmission control unit. Symptoms include unresponsive paddle shifters, rough and slipping gear shifts, grinding noises, and the gearbox entering emergency mode. The error memory indicates a fault, suggesting the control unit as the primary cause. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a workshop to prevent further complications.

Yeah, it definitely feels like it's stuck sometimes, especially when it goes into emergency mode. Was it the same symptoms for you? And how did you figure out it was the control module specifically?

Yep, pretty much identical. The emergency mode thing is a dead giveaway. I initially thought it was just bad luck, but the error codes pointed the mechanics directly to the control module. Honestly, with all those symptoms, especially the emergency mode and stored error, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. It's likely the control unit, and those transmission issues can snowball into something worse quickly. Cost me around 1000€ to fix, control unit was defective.

Thanks a lot for the info! I'll definitely take it to the workshop ASAP. Knowing it's likely the control unit helps a lot. Looks like I'm in for a similar repair bill. I'll post what happens once it's sorted.

Sounds rough! I've got an Accent myself, and I had similar issues a while back. Shifting was a nightmare, and it turned out to be the transmission control module acting up. Does it feel like it's stuck in a gear sometimes?
