Accord Hybrid Camshaft Sensor Issue

I'm having issues with my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid (39,334 km). It struggles to start, sometimes stalls when idling, and the check engine light is on. The code points to a camshaft sensor issue. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid is experiencing starting issues, stalling when idling, and a check engine light, with a diagnostic code indicating a camshaft sensor problem. Possible causes include a faulty camshaft position sensor or issues with the wiring and connections. It is suggested to have a professional workshop diagnose and potentially replace the sensor to resolve the issue.

I have an Accord Hybrid as well. Your symptoms sound similar to a problem I encountered. In my case, the defective part was the camshaft position sensor. Before replacing it, did you check the wiring and connections to the sensor? A loose or corroded connection can sometimes trigger a false reading.

Thanks for the quick reply! I gave the wiring a quick look, but I'm not super experienced with car repairs. I didn't see anything obviously loose or corroded, but I didn't really dig in there. Is there a specific way I should be checking the connections? And is it possible the sensor is faulty even if the wiring seems okay?

Yes, it's entirely possible the sensor itself is faulty, even if the wiring appears intact. The internal encoder wheel on the camshaft can develop issues. Given your description and the error code, I'd strongly advise taking it to a reputable workshop for a thorough diagnosis. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause and provide a proper solution, which might involve replacing the sensor. Attempting further self-diagnosis without the right tools and knowledge could potentially lead to further complications.

Okay, that makes sense. I appreciate the advice! I'll take it to my local shop and have them take a look. Just got the quote from the workshop, and it is 695€ including the sensor replacement and labor. Thanks again for the help!
