Accord Hybrid Knocking Combustion
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid is experiencing knocking combustion, reduced engine power, jerking during acceleration, visible smoke, and an error code. The issue may be caused by deposits in the combustion chamber, especially given the vehicle's mileage of 167,398 km. It is suggested to have a mechanic inspect the cylinders to confirm the presence of deposits. A repair estimate of 425€ has been provided to address the problem.

Thanks for the thoughts. I always use the recommended fuel octane. The knocking is more noticeable when the engine is warm. At idle, it seems relatively smooth, but not perfect. Can you tell me more about your experience? Did you see smoke too?

Okay, a warm engine makes me think combustion chamber deposits. And yes, I had smoke, which scared me. Given your symptoms and mileage, deposits are possible. I'd get it checked by a mechanic. They should be able to scope the cylinders and tell you for sure. Just my guess.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a shop, and they think it could be deposits in the combustion chamber too. The repair is estimated at 425€. Thanks for sharing your experience, it helped.

Knocking, huh. I had something similar with my Accord, but it wasn't a hybrid. I'm no expert, but did you check the fuel octane? Is the sound worse when the engine is cold or hot? Does the engine idle smoothly, or is it rough?
