Accord VANOS Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Honda Accord with 183,852 km is experiencing an inlet VANOS fault, indicated by an intermittent check engine light and increased fuel consumption. Possible causes include a bad camshaft solenoid valve or a power supply issue. After checking the wiring harness and finding no visible damage, the problem was resolved by replacing a compromised solenoid valve, as diagnosed by a technician.

It is atypical. The engine seems stable, with no misfires. I checked the wiring harness, and the connections seem fine. Could a hidden electrical fault cause this?

No misfires and good wiring is tricky. I'm leaning towards a faulty solenoid, even if the wiring seems OK. Chasing electrical gremlins without diagnostics is a nightmare. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the VANOS system and pinpoint the issue.

I took it to a qualified technician, who found a compromised solenoid valve that needed replacing. The total cost was 250€, which resolved the issue. Thanks for your help.

VANOS issues on a Honda Accord? That's unexpected. You usually see that on BMWs, right? Is the engine running rough at all? Maybe a slight misfire? Could be a dodgy solenoid, like you said. Have you checked the wiring harness for damage or corrosion?
