Active Hood Fault

I have a concerning issue with my 2017 Lexus NX hybrid. The computer displays "Active hood fault," and the airbag warning lamp is on. Diagnostic tests confirm an error, and the spring actuators seem triggered. The vehicle has 109389 km on it. Based on my research, a defective acceleration sensor seems likely. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

I had a similar issue with my 2019 Volvo XC60. Same "Active hood fault" message and airbag light. In my case, it was also related to the pedestrian protection system. Were there any events, like hard braking or a minor bump, prior to the fault appearing?

Thank you. No, there were no unusual events preceding the fault. The error appeared spontaneously during normal driving. Could you elaborate on how the issue was resolved with your Volvo, particularly regarding the faulty component and the associated repair costs?

In my Volvo's case, the dealer confirmed it was a faulty sensor within the active hood system. They replaced the sensor, reset the system, and the problem disappeared. I strongly recommend having your Lexus professionally diagnosed. Airbag and active hood faults can be tricky and are best left to the experts.

Thank you! Following your suggestion, I took the vehicle to a certified Lexus workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective acceleration sensor, as suspected. The sensor was replaced, and the system recalibrated, at a cost of 315€. The error has been resolved. I appreciate your help!
