Active hood fault and airbag light issue

My 2013 Mercedes SL with a gasoline engine is showing an "Active hood fault" message and the airbag warning light is on. The error memory says the spring actuators have been triggered. Could a defective acceleration sensor be the cause? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm estimating around 315€ for the repair.

Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen on my SL. Check the impact sensor; sounds like it might be faulty. It messes with the whole crash detection system. Is the hood actually popped or just the warning?

The hood itself seems fine, it's just the warning message and the airbag light that are the problem. The spring actuators being triggered is what's throwing me off. How did you pinpoint the impact sensor? Was it a similar situation with the hood latch?

Yep, same deal. Hood looked normal. The error codes pointed to the impact sensor. It's like a domino effect with the car electronics these days. Honestly, with the airbags involved, I'd get it checked out by a workshop. Not worth messing with that system yourself.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the acceleration sensor. Replacing it sorted out the active hood fault and the airbag light. Repair cost was pretty close to my estimate. Appreciate the help!
