Active Hood Fault and Airbag Warning Light

I'm really worried about a problem with my 2015 Mini Paceman. A warning message saying 'Active hood fault' keeps popping up on the on-board computer, and the airbag warning light is now on in the speedometer. I scanned for errors, and it seems like the spring actuators have been triggered. From what I've read, a defective acceleration sensor is the most likely culprit, with an estimated repair cost of 315€. Has anyone experienced this before, and is it definitely the collision detection/impact sensor at fault?

The active hood system fault often triggers the airbag warning because they're related to the collision detection system. Is the hood latch itself operating correctly? The impact sensor could be the issue, but it's worth checking the basics first.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'basics', what exactly should I be looking for with the hood latch? Is there a way to test the impact sensor without specialized tools?

Based on your description and the error codes, a faulty impact sensor is probable. I wouldn't advise attempting to test it without the proper equipment. The system is complex. It is best to have it checked at a workshop

Just wanted to update that the workshop diagnosed it as a faulty acceleration sensor, as suspected. They replaced it, and the error message and airbag light are gone. Total cost ended up being 315€, which is what I expected. Thanks for your help!
