Active Hood Fault on 2020 Camaro

I've got a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro with a gasoline engine and I'm seeing an "Active hood fault" message on the dash. The airbag light is also on, and the error memory shows something related to the active hood system. Has anyone dealt with this? I also noticed that the spring actuators seem to have been triggered. Could this be a serious safety issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Chevrolet Camaro is displaying an "Active hood fault" message and an airbag light, indicating a potential issue with the active hood system. The spring actuators appear to have been triggered, suggesting the system might falsely detect an impact. A faulty sensor, particularly an acceleration or impact sensor, is suspected as the cause. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected by a professional to accurately diagnose and resolve the issue, ensuring safety.

That sounds odd. I've not seen that particular issue on a Camaro before, but I have heard of similar problems in other cars with pedestrian safety systems. If the spring actuators are triggered, it definitely suggests the system thinks there was an impact. How many kilometers are on your Camaro? Could a faulty sensor be the culprit?

It has 170258 km on the clock. I'm suspecting a sensor as well, but I'm not sure which one controls the active hood. Is it part of the airbag system, or is it a separate impact sensor? Any idea how to check those?

Given the mileage, a sensor failure isn't out of the question. The active hood system usually has its own dedicated acceleration sensors at the front. Since the airbag light is also on, there is a strong possibility of a faulty impact sensor. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional workshop. They can pinpoint the exact sensor and replace it. Better to be safe than sorry with these safety systems!

Thanks a lot for your help! It does sound like a sensor issue. I'll take it to the shop and get them to diagnose it. They said a faulty acceleration sensor is the most likely cause and quoted around 315€ for the repair. Appreciate the advice!
