Active hood fault Peugeot 106
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 106 owner is experiencing an "Active hood fault" message and an illuminated airbag light, accompanied by clicking noises from the spring actuators. The issue is identified as a defective acceleration sensor, which is part of the active hood system. The recommended solution is to have the sensor replaced by a professional to ensure the airbag system functions correctly, as it is a critical safety component.

An acceleration sensor? Where exactly is that located, and is it difficult to replace? I'm reasonably handy, but I don't want to mess with the airbag system too much.

The acceleration sensor is part of the active hood system, and yes, it was indeed the root cause of my problems as well. I strongly recommend you take the car to a workshop, since the airbag system might get damaged. It is safety-relevant equipment.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to hear. I took it to my local mechanic. Turns out it was a defective acceleration sensor just like you said. Cost me 315€ to get it sorted, but at least the airbags should now work correctly in case of a crash!

I also own a Peugeot 106 and had a similar experience not too long ago. Could you check whether your car has an acceleration sensor? In my case, that was the issue.
